The Contamination of Alice #2

Mixed Media | Bioart | Installation

The Contamination of Alice: Instance #2 consists of Agar heads created from facial impressions of an 11 year old girl, referencing the original donor of the Saos-2 cell line. The Agar has been modified with different nutrients, allowing for the growth of a variety of different fungal and bacterial colonies as well as other organisms (microscopic mites and maggots). This work along with the other works in the series comment that life is continual proliferation and becoming in which even death and decay can be seen as a beginning and a new cycle of life.
