Fragments of a Body in the Process of Becoming Other

Mixed Media | Sculpture

Fragments of a Body in the Process of Becoming Other consists of a series of casts made from liquid latex incorporating cell palettes of Saos-2 cells collected over a period of six months at The Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation [IHBI] at QUT. The latex casts are displayed on a series of Perspex sheets in an order relating to the passage number of the cells. The work comments on the transformative capabilities of cultured cells, as well the uncanny nature of cell and tissue culture technologies.
